Professional Experience
Independent Mediator, Arbitrator and Private Judge since 1988. Served 25 years on the California bench as Presiding Justice of California Court of Appeal, a Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County and a Municipal Court Judge in Los Angeles. Prior to appointment to the bench, had extensive experience as a Mediator and Arbitrator. Formerly an adjunct member of the U.S.C. Law School faculty, teaching Evidence and Psychiatry & the Law.

Primary Practice Areas
Complex business disputes, Personal Injury and Malpractice, Employment issues, real estate and construction defect matters, environmental issues, entertainment and intellectual property, insurance and bad faith, aviation.

Dispute Resolution Experience
Handled over 4000 matters in the last 13 years as a Mediator, Arbitrator and Private Judge; served as a Special Master for the United States District Court in Los Angeles in air disaster cases; has lectured on Mediation and Arbitration procedures at judicial and bar meetings.

Served as the Chairperson of the California Center for Judicial Education and Research. Vice President of the California Judges Association, Member of the faculty of the California Judicial College, Chairman of the Appellate Courts Institute, Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the California Judges Association, Select Committee on California Supreme Court Procedures, Judicial Advisor to the California State Bar Committee on Civil Court reform, Arbitration Committee of the Labor Law Section of the American Bar Association; Administrative Presiding Justice of the Second Appellate District of the California Court of Appeal; Chief Justice of the B'nai B'rith International Court of Appeal; have published articles on a variety of legal subjects; recipient of a special commendation from the Joint Committee on Legal Education of the American Bar Association and the American Law Institute.
