    Judicial and Professional Experience
    Admission to California Bar: 1959 - practiced law from 1959 until appointed directly to the Superior Court in 1979.

    Law Practices: Partner and litigator in the Law Firm of Scarlett & Roberson, Law Corporation, a full service law firm, handling: personal injury, commercial, family law, probate, real estate, and other general civil and criminal matters.

    Practicing attorney from 1959 until appointed Judge of the Superior Court in 1979.

    Extensive trial experience as a litigator.

    Currently: Arbitrator - Mediator, Private Dispute Resolution

    Specializes in: Personal injury, commercial disputes, fee disputes, malpractice, probate, business, employment, complex litigation and discovery (law and motion)

    1979 to January 1999 Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court

    Retired: January 3, 1999

    Served in trial court assignments from 1979, until appointment to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court in 1988.

    In addition to regular duties as a Judge of the Appellate Division of the Los Angeles Superior Court, (Judge Roberson) conducted mandatory settlement conferences referred by other judges and voluntary settlement conferences referred by attorneys.

    1991 to 1996: Served as the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Department/Division of the Los Angeles Superior Court.

    1988: Appointed by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court to the Appellate Division/Department of the Los Angeles Superior Court.

    1988: Assigned by the Judicial Chairperson to the Court of Appeal as a Justice pro tempore, and remained on assignment for approximately six months.

    1980: Assigned by the Judicial Chairperson to serve as a Justice pro tempore to the Curt of Appeal for Two months

    While on assignment to the Court of Appeal, (Judge Roberson) authored a number of Opinions, five of which were published. Among the published opinions authored while on assignment to the Court of Appeal is the often-cited case of Younan vs. Equifax, Inc. (1980) 111 Cal. App. 3d 498

    Seminar Speaker - Instructor
    Taught Continuing Education courses in "Civil Procedure," to Paralegals at California State University, Los Angeles; has spoken at various Bar Association seminars; presided over mock trials for various Bar Association and served as moderator for CEB programs on "Trial Techniques."

  • "Outstanding Legal Ability" award from the John M. Langston Bar Association, 1993
  • "Justice Bernard Jefferson Jurist of the Year Award," 1997
  • "Outstanding Alumni Award", University of Southern California Eubonics Support Group.
